Competition Information and Checklist
Dancers’ Competition Checklist
- Dance Registration (ID) card! You cannot bring home awards without it!
- REMEMBER your entry ticket if the competition organizers sent you one
- Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to registration start time
Nationals
- Shoes! (NOTE: do they need cleaning or spiffing up after the last event?)
- Extra laces or elastic
- FLORA or LILT - Dress, Petticoat, Sash, Brooch, nude pantyhose or white anklets,
if wearing, white trunks or bike shorts, beige bra/camisole/tank-type T-shirt
- ABOYNE (other choice for Flora or Lilt) – Skirt, Plain peasant-type blouse (not same
as Highland), Sash, Brooch, Petticoat, white trunks or bike shorts, beige bra/camisole/tank-type
T-shirt
- HORNPIPE – top & pants, tie, hat with elastic to keep it on your head! White undergarment
if your outfit is white.
- JIG – Dress, Petticoat, Apron, nude pantyhose or white anklets, if wearing; white
trunks or bike shorts, beige bra/camisole/tank-type T-shirt.
Highland
- Blouse
- Vest or Jacket
- Kilt
- Hose & Garters
- Bra/camisole /tank-type T-shirt
- Black trunks/bike shorts
- Suspenders (if used)
Other
- Hair brush / comb
- Hair pins
- Hair net
- Hair spray or mousse
- Extra safety pins
- Filled water bottle or sports drink Granola or energy bars, fruit etc.
- Plastic bag with moist washcloth (to dab shoes prior to Fling & sword) OR rosin –
bowling rosin is available at K-mart
- Sewing kit
- If outdoor competition – sunscreen, hat, blanket for bleachers, umbrella etc.
- Camera
Remember, NO heavy makeup (light eyeliner, light foundation or sunscreen, and mostly
clear lip gloss), NO jewelry (including kilt pins) or watch, hair accessories, tattoos,
or nail polish. HAIR: aim for a tidy bun. OK to braid and pull back into bun or
something like it. Your goal is to look as tidy as possible!
